HURDLE + panelsamtal

Dokumentären följer några unga palestinier som lever under militär ockupation och svarar på en värld av murar, checkpoints och arresteringar på ett oväntat och inspirerande sätt. Filmens huvudpersonerna, Sami och Mohammed börjar lära ut parkour och fotografering till ungdomarna i deras områden som ett sätt att övervinna de personliga och politiska hinder som ofta känns oundvikliga. Även om dessa unga män är åtskilda av en mur, är de förenade i att leda nästa generation mot frihet och självbestämmande genom kreativa metoder.

Filmen är Michael Rowleys debutfilm och har fått uppmärksamhet på flera filmfestivaler och ger publik och kritiker ett nytt sätt att se på en gammal konflikt. Michael Rowley är en av regissörerna bakom den aktuella I väntan på Armageddon/Praying for Armageddon (2023) och ger publik och kritiker ett nytt sätt att se på en gammal konflikt.

Panelister:
Hebatalla Taha, Associate Senior Lecturer at Lund University’s Centre for Advanced Middle Eastern Studies and the Department of Political Science, at the intersection of political economy and security in the modern Middle East, particularly Israel/Palestine.

Adla Lagström Jebara, Palestinian-Swedish, born in Sweden, raised in Palestine. Currently studying a masters in computer science and engineering at LTH and has a bachelors in political science from Lund’s University.

Living under military occupation, Palestinian youth respond to a world of walls, checkpoints and arrests in an unexpected and inspiring way. Hurdle ’s protagonists, Sami and Mohammad, begin teaching the creative practices of parkour and photography to the youth of their communities as a means to overcome the personal and political obstacles that often feel inescapable. Though these young men are separated by a wall, they are united in leading the next generation toward freedom and self-determination through creative practices.

The next generation must decide what to do with the wars and walls they inherit and, ultimately, find ways to practice their freedom.
